‘HaMi’ mobile app for migrant workers launched

KATHMANDU: HaMi (Happy Migration) mobile app was launched in Kathmandu on Thursday to provide essential employment-related information to aspiring migrant workers in a simple and accessible manner.

The app, developed with financial support from the South Korean government, will be operated in collaboration with Nepal’s Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, and South Korean Ambassador to NepalPark Tae-young, jointly launched the app.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bhandari said the government was committed to enhancing transparency in the labour market and improving policy decisions through the use of digital technology.

Similarly, Ambassador Park Tae-young said the app aims to provide accurate, reliable, and timely information tailored to the needs of migrant workers. He also added that Nepali migrant workers who return from Korea are a valuable asset for the country’s future.

The mobile app features a user-friendly interface in both Nepali and English, and includes resources related to skills development, financial planning and mental health support.
