KATHMANDU: Local administration in Rasuwa has urged people living along riverbanks to remain alert as heavy rainfall continues in the Tibetan region of China.
According to the District Administration Office, Rasuwa, heavy rains in northern areas, including Kerung across the border in Tibet, could lead to rising water levels in rivers such as the Bhote Koshi. The local administration has asked Residents living near rivers and streams to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Arjun Paudel told the RSS news agency said they have received information about heavy rainfall around Kerung from the Chinese authorities.
“With water levels in Kerung and Lhende streams, which merge to form the Bhote Koshi River, rising, we have issued a warning to people living near the river banks,” Paudel added.
Meteorologists have also forecast heavy rainfall in Rasuwa and the surrounding areas.
