KATHMANDU: This year’s monsoon system has spread across the country.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a special bulletin on Friday stating that the monsoon has reached all parts of Nepal 23 days after entering the country.

The monsoon entered the country from the eastern region on May 29 and initially spread across most parts of Koshi Province. By June 13, it had extended to some areas of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, as well as parts of eastern Lumbini Province.

“With the monsoon reaching Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces from Friday, the system is now active across the country,” Meteorologist Pratima Manandhar said in the bulletin. “Currently, monsoon winds are affecting parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and the eastern region of Lumbini Province. There is also a partial influence of western and local winds in the western parts of the country.”

According to Manandhar, a low-pressure area formed around West Bengal, India, has also made a partial impact.”
