Nepse down by 24.76 points; turnover rises to Rs 11.23 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) stretched its losses into a third straight session on Thursday, closing 24.76 points lower at 2,628.91.

Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, it lost momentum and slipped into negative territory to eventually end the session 0.93% lower.

Unit prices of 201 scrips declined, while only 47 recorded gains. Trading activity, however, remained robust, with total turnover rising to Rs 11.23 billion, with 29.41 million units of shares traded across 121,551 transactions.

Ngadi Group Power Ltd led the turnover chart with Rs 854.45 million worth of shares traded. Butwal Power Company Ltd and Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 580.90 million and Rs 479.11 million, respectively.

All trading groups posted losses during the session. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index which was down 2.47%. Hydropower and Others sub-indices were next with losses of 1.34% and 1.12%. The market heavyweight Banking sub-index also declined by 0.5%.
