KATHMANDU: Leaders of the ruling coalition partners, the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML, met on Wednesday to discuss the functioning of the government, among other issues.

Prime Minister and UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leaders of the two parties participated in the meeting.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the talks focused on ending the parliamentary obstruction, the budget for the upcoming fiscal year and recent political developments.

Lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have been disrupting House proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the ‘visit visa’ controversy.

The House of Representatives meeting could not convene on Tuesday after RSP lawmakers attended the session wearing blue scarves in protest.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire then adjourned the meeting until Thursday.
