KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell for the second consecutive day, declining by 1.07 points, or 0.04%, to close at 2,653.68 points on Wednesday.
Of the traded securities, 159 scrips saw their unit prices decline, 88 advanced and one remained unchanged. Despite the dip, total turnover slightly improved to Rs 9.08 billion, with 23.44 million units traded through 78,013 transactions.
Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd led trading volumes with Rs 717.82 million worth of shares traded. Next were Singati Hydro Energy Ltd and Butwal Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 618.09 million and Rs 453.29 million, respectively.
Sector performance was mixed. Five trading groups posted gains, with the Hydropower sub-index rising 0.74%, driven by strength in hydropower stocks. However, eight sectors ended in the red, with the Development Bank sub-index recording the largest decline of 1.2%.
