KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice-chairperson Rabindra Mishra on bail of Rs 300,000.
The bench of District Judge Taradevi Maharjan issued the order on Tuesday. Mishra had appeared before the court on Tuesday morning to record his statement.
Speaking to reporters after the court’s order, Mishra said the court had upheld justice, even though he had been wronged by the state.
The District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, has filed charges against Mishra and 60 others in connection with the Tinkune incident of March 28. Of the 61 accused, 11 were charged with criminal mischief, while 50, including Mishra, faced charges related to offences against the state.
Mishra was released from custody on May 16 after his wife filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court.
Earlier on Monday, the district court released RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shamser Rana on bail of Rs 300,000.
