KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba has directed Nepali ambassadors in Tel Aviv and Doha to prioritize the safety of Nepali citizens.
Given the escalation of situation in the Middle East over the past three days, Minister Rana directed the Nepali envoys to prioritize the safety of Nepali citizens in accredited and concurrently accredited countries, maintain continuous contact with the Nepali community, and provide regular updates on security alerts issued by the respective countries to keep Nepalis well-informed.
According to the ministry, approximately 5,500 Nepalis are currently in Israel and about 12 in Iran, and all of them are safe.
“The government is closely monitoring the developments between Israel and Iran, and will take appropriate steps as needed to ensure the welfare of Nepalis residing there,” according to the ministry.
