KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a nominal loss of 9.08 points, closing the last trading session of the week at 2,655.38 points on Thursday
Despite the loss, total turnover jumped to Rs 12.51 billion, the highest since March 3, with 28.60 million units of securities traded through 102,895 transactions.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, reaching an intra-day high of 2,672.43 points, it erased all the gains and eventually ended in negative territory.
Unit prices of 149 scrips went down during the session, while 99 advanced. The biggest gain came from Pure Energy Pvt Ltd, which ended the session 9.99% higher. Chandragiri Hills Ltd and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Ltd followed with gains of 6.78% and 5.99%, respectively. Toward turnover, Ngadi Group Power Ltd was at the top with Rs 1.08 billion worth of shares traded. Next were Super Mai Hydropower Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 753.85 million and Rs 544.18 million, respectively.
Four trading groups posted gains on Thursday, while the remaining nine ended the session in the red. Tourism & Hotels sub-index posted the biggest gain of 2.14%. On the other hand, Trading logged the highest loss of 1.09%.
