KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a loss of 13.69 points, closing trading at 2,664.47 points on Wednesday.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, reaching an intra-day high of 2,686.37 points, it erased all the gains and ended 0.51% lower.
Share prices of 170 companies fell during the session, while 77 advanced and one remained unchanged. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 615.71 million worth of shares traded. Following closely were Sanima Mai Hydropower Company Ltd and Butwal Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 592.75 million and Rs 584.84 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, all sub-indices, except for the Hydropower sub-index, which was up by 1.13%, ended in negative territory. Others sub-indices registered the highest loss of 1.57%. Next were Finance and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices with losses of 1.31% and 1.08%, respectively.
Total turnover slightly fell to Rs 9.90 billion with 22.07 million units of securities traded through 81,703 transactions.
