Kshitiz Thebe reelected Youth Association Nepal chairperson

POKHARA: Kshitiz Thebe has been elected as the president of the Youth Association Nepal, the youth wing of the ruling CPN-UML, for the second straight term.

In the voting for the new leadership of the association on Tuesday, Thebe defeated his contender Suman Puri by a margin of 188 votes. Thebe received 796 votes, while Puri secured 608 votes.

The result, however, has not been announced officially.

According to Election Officer Ishwari Paudel, a total of 1,40 voters, out of 1,764 eligible to vote, cast their votes i the election.

Although UML leaders had made efforts to elect the leadership of its youth wing unanimously, it did not materialize as both Thebe and Puri refused to withdraw. The two contested the election by forming their separate panels.

Preliminary results show candidates from Thebe’s panel secured victory in most of the key positions.
