KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has concluded that Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak is not involved in the visit visa scandal.
After a meeting of the party office-bearers on Monday, NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said Minister Lekhak presented his position in the meeting in detail. “The meeting accepted and endorsed his explanation,” Mahat said.
Mahat also said that since the home minister is not implicated in the case, there is no reason for him to resign. “He is not under investigation, and therefore there is no basis to accuse him of wrongdoing,” Mahat added.
He added that there was a unanimous agreement within the party that those involved in the scandal should be investigated and held accountable.
