KATHMANDU: Incumbent Chairperson Kshitij Thebe and General Secretary Suman Puri are set to compete for the leadership of the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) during its 10th General Convention, currently underway in Pokhara.

Despite calls from CPN-UML leadership for the youth wing to elect a new executive committee unopposed, both Thebe and Puri are preparing to contest for the top position. They are busy preparing their respective election panels for the election.

Prakash Gautam, Maharaj Gurung and Krishna Hari KC, who were also vying for the top position, have withdrawn from the race, narrowing the competition to a two-way contest between Kshitij and Suman.

Kshitij’s panel includes Maharaj Gurung as vice-chairperson and Mahesh Chaulagain as general secretary. However, Bijay Shah is also vying for the general secretary post within Thebe’s camp.

On the other hand, Suman has confirmed Prakash Gautam as his candidate for vice-chairperson and Parbat Bhandari for general secretary. His panel also features Kuber Adhikari, Arun Kunwar and Madan Giri as candidates for deputy general secretary and secretary positions.
