Nagdhunga-Naubise road section to be shut for four hours till June 8

KATHMANDU: The Nagdhunga-Naubise road section, the main entry point to the capital city Kathmandu, will be closed for four and a half hours every day starting Sunday to facilitate road expansion works.

According to the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Rishiram Tiwari, the road section will be closed from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm till June 8.

“The Nagdhunga-Mugling-Naubise Road Expansion Project earlier carried out demolition work during nighttime on the Nagdhunga-Piplamod stretch. They proposed to close the road section during the day for the construction work,” Tiwari said. “We granted the permission as it is necessary to close the road section during daytime to expedite construction works.”

Issuing a notice, the project said vehicles heading out of Kathmandu will be stopped at Nagdhunga, while those coming from Naubise will be stopped at Khanikhola. The project office has advised road users to divert to alternative routes such as Dharke-Sitapaila and Tokha-Chhahare-Trishuli-Galchhi roads during the period.

The closure will cause significant trouble to road users as over 10,000 vehicles ply this road section daily.
