KATHMANDU: India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has warned that India will respond strongly if Pakistan undertakes military action against it.
Addressing the Foreign Minister of Iran in his opening remarks, during the 20th India-Iran Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, Jaishankar said the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam compelled India to respond on May 7 by striking at cross-border terrorist infrastructure.
“Excellency, you are visiting India at a time when we are responding to a particularly barbaric terrorist attack on April 22 in the Indian Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. This attack compelled us to respond on 7th May by striking at cross-border terrorist infrastructure,” Jaishankar said. “Our response was targeted and missioned. It is not our intention to escalate the situation. However, if there are military attacks on us, there should be no doubt that it will be met with a very, very firm response”.
