KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board (NEB) has postponed the annual examinations of Grade 12, scheduled to begin from Thursday, until further notice.
NEB Chairperson Mahashram Sharma told reporters on Wednesday evening that the examinations will now be held from May 4.
The examinations had become uncertain as school teachers across the country are demonstrating in Kathmandu, demanding immediate enactment of the School Education Bill.
Earlier, NEB had decided to hold the examination by deploying civil servants, if needed, arguing that postponement of the examination would have a psychological impact on students.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday evening instructed NEB Chairperson Sharma to postpone the examination for a few days.
The decision has affected over 500,000 students who had been preparing for the examination for months.
