KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 7.75 points, closing trading at 2,698.28 points on Monday.
The second straight loss means Nepse has dropped below the psychological 2,700-point level.
Unit prices of 133 scrips declined during the session, while 112 advanced and one remained unchanged. Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 539.91 million worth of shares traded. Next were Universal Power Company Ltd and Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 524.76 million and Rs 434.59 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, seven logged losses while six ended the session in the green. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 1.52%. Similarly, Hydropower posted the highest gain of 0.77%.
Although the benchmark Nepse index posted losses on the day, total turnover improved to Rs 8.77 billion, with 21.20 million units traded through 78,678 transactions.
