Nepse down 16.68 points; turnover falls to Rs 8.43 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day gaining streak on Sunday, closing the week’s first trading day 16.68 points lower at 2,706.04 points on Sunday.

Unit prices of 192 scrips declined during the session, while 53 advanced and one remained unchanged.

Trading volume also decreased alongside the Nepse index, with shares worth Rs 8.43 billion traded on Sunday compared to Rs 10.51 billion in the previous session. A total of 21.32 million units were traded on the bourse through 74,045 transactions on the day.

Radhi Bidyut Company recorded the highest turnover of the session with Rs 687.69 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Balephi Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 572.77 million and Rs 566.79 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, two posted gains and the remaining 11 ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Trading sub-index, which was up by 1.02%. On the other hand, Hotels & Tourism sub-index went down 1.36%, while Finance and Hydropower sub-indices also shed 1.27% and 1.22%.
