KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its gaining streak into a third straight session, closing 26.49 points higher at 2,722.73 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.
With this, the benchmark index closed above the psychological 2,700-point level for the first time since April 3.
Trading volume also surged during the session, with shares worth Rs 10.79 billion traded through 90,555 transactions. This marks a significant rise from Wednesday’s trading volume of Rs 7.26 billion.
The unit prices of 187 scrips increased during the session, while 59 declined. Himalayan Power Partner Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 1.58 billion worth of shares traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure and Development and Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company with turnovers of Rs 624.65 million and Rs 496.11 million, respectively.
Except for the Trading sub-index, which posted a marginal loss, the sub-indices of all trading groups posted gains on Thursday. The Investment sub-index logged the highest gain of 2.99%, followed by the Development Bank and Banking sub-indices, which were up by 1.35% and 1.14%, respectively.
