Nepse up 7.01 points; turnover falls to Rs 7.26 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a marginal gain of 7.01 points, closing trading at 2,696.23 points on Wednesday.

Although the benchmark index breached the psychological 2,700-point level early in the trading, it failed to sustain the momentum as the day progressed.

Despite the rise in the Nepse index, turnover fell to Rs 7.26 billion compared to Rs 8.5 billion on Tuesday. A total of 16.61 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 64,360 transactions during the session.

Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 594.15 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Balephi Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 507.21 million and Rs 428.77 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, six posted losses while seven ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Hydropower sub-index, which was up by 1.63%. On the other hand, Others sub-index logged the highest loss of 1.07%.
