No plan to provide lifelong facilities to former officials: Singh

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Urban Development, Prakashman Singh, has urged people not to follow the rumors about the government providing lifelong facilities to former officials.

Speaking at an interaction organized by the Palpa District Committee of Nepali Congress in Tansen on Friday, Singh clarified that the government has no plans to provide facilities to former officials.

Singh claimed that the current uproar is based on actions taken by previous governments. According to him, in the Dr Baburam Bhattarai had introduced an ordinance in 2012 to provide facilities to former officials. “Although some media outlets have reported that the current government is preparing to enact a similar law, I want to make it clear that no such preparations are underway,” he said. “I urge all to understand the reality and not be swayed by rumors spread through various media against the government.”

Singh also said that the political rights enjoyed by the people were achieved through their struggles and were not granted by anyone out of generosity. “The government is working to protect these rights and improve the lives and livelihoods of the people,” he added.
