Nepse down 30.36 points; turnover drops to Rs 12.94 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 30.36 points and closed trading at 2,846.30 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index, which snapped a nine-day gaining streak on Monday, continued losses on the second day as well.

Unit prices of 198 scrips declined during the session, while 41 advanced and five remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 1.09 billion worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 642.53 million and Rs 471.38 million, respectively.

All trading groups ended the session in the red on Tuesday. The biggest loss came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index which was down by 2.21%. Finance and Investment sub-indices were next with losses of 2.1% and 1.75%, respectively.

Turnover fell to Rs 12.94 billion on Tuesday with 26.38 million units of scrips traded through 122,336 transactions.
