Arzu busy in diplomatic meetings in Geneva

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba held separate meetings with Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Elnur Mammadov, in Geneva on Monday.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council. Issues of bilateral interest and mutual concerns were discussed during the meeting.

“During the meeting with the head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, I noted Switzerland’s contribution to Nepal’s socio-economic progress, and expressed my hope for the continued growth of our development partnership,” Arzu wrote in a post on her social media page.

Likewise, during the meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, the foreign minister congratulated Azerbaijan for successfully hosting the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. “We exchanged views on Nepal-Azerbaijan ties, marking the importance of instituting mechanisms to enhance cooperation,” she added.
