Release white paper on funds received from donor agencies, Singh tells govt

KATHMANDU: Independent member of the House of Representatives, Amresh Kumar Singh, has demanded that the government release a white paper regarding the funds received from donor agencies.

Speaking during the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Singh urged the government to clarify the amount of money that has entered Nepal through non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), as well as its utilization.

“We have seen discussions about the funds received from different donor agencies and organizations on social media. The parliament should know how much money has come from the non-governmental sector and in which areas it has been spent,” he said.

Mentioning that a draft of the National Integrity Policy was prepared by the State Affairs Committee of parliament in 2017 to regulate funds received from donor agencies, he demanded that the government release a white paper on the funds received from NGOs and INGOs.

He also demanded that the government clarify in parliament the reasons behind Nepal’s gray listing by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
