
KATHMANDU: A female police inspector of the Armed Police Force (APF) was found dead on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Santoshi Mahat (28) from Sindhupalchok, who was undergoing basic training in Pokhara, according to Shailendra Thapa, the spokesperson for the APF. Mahat’s body was found hanging from a beam near the women’s restroom in the barracks, he added.
Mahat joined the APF as a constable in 2015 and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in 2021. She had been promoted to the rank of Inspector earlier this year and was undergoing basic training in Pokhara.
Her body has been sent to Pashimanchal Regional Hospital Pokhara for a postmortem examination.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway, Thapa added.
