Nepse stretches gains into sixth session; turnover rises to Rs 11.54 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gain into the sixth straight session, closing the first trading day of the week 11.66 points higher at 2,755.40 points – the highest since December 3 – on Sunday.

Turnover improved significantly compared to the previous session as Rs 11.54 billion worth of shares were traded on the bourse through 108,913 transactions.

Despite the gain, unit prices of 147 scrips declined on Sunday while 92 advanced and four remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 956.45 million worth of shares traded. Next were Citizens Life Insurance and Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 614.88 million and Rs 602.94 million.

Among trading groups, seven posted gains, while six ended the session in the red. The Others sub-index posted the highest gain of 3.72% during the session, while the biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 1.32%.
