One dead, another injured in Pokhara road accident

POKHARA: One person died and another one was injured when a scooter and pickup van collided near Phirke in Pokhara on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Maya Gurung (56) from Phulbari in Pokhara Metropolitan City-11.

According to the District Police Office, Kaski, the accident occurred when a pickup van heading towards Zero Mila from Srijana Chowk collided with a scooter coming from the opposite direction. Gurung, who was riding a pillion in the scooter, sustained severe injuries in the crash. Although she was rushed to Metro City Hospital she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The injured scooter driver is receiving treatment at Metro City Hospital.

Police have taken the driver of the pickup van, Nirmal Gurung from Harinas Rural Municipality-1 of Syangja, under control for investigation.
