KATHMANDU: Lebanese authorities have said that more than 25 people had been arrested following an attack on a United Nations convoy that wounded two peacekeepers, including the force’s outgoing deputy commander.

Major General Chok Bahadur Dhakal, who was serving as Deputy Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Mission, was injured in the attack.

According to the Nepal Army, Dhakal was injured when an agitated mob stopped and vandalized his convoy.

Following the incident, Major General Dhakal was immediately rescued and taken to the UN Level Hospital. The hospital has reported that he is now out of danger, the Nepal Army said in a statement.
