KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided not to extend the deadline for its sister organizations to hold their overdue general conventions.
During a meeting with presidents of sister organizations at the party headquarters in Sanepa on Thursday, top leaders of the party made it clear that all sister organizations must hold their conventions by mid-April.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that sister organizations would not get further time extensions for their general conventions.
NC office bearers and the coordinator of the Central Directive Committee for the Convention of Sister Organizations also attended the meeting.
Stating that the party leadership will provide the necessary support to facilitate the conventions, Mahat urged all sister organizations to hold their convention on time.
Most of the presidents of sister organizations expressed commitment to hold their conventions within the stipulated timeframe.
In July last year, the party instructed all sister organizations to complete their conventions by mid-April 2025.
With only two months remaining, several sister organizations, including the Nepal Students Union, Nepal Women’s Association, Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Democratic Fighters Association, Nepal Farmers Association, Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Association, Nepal Democratic Disabled Association, Nepal Tamang Association, Nepal Thakur Society, and Nepal Ex-Servicemen Association, have not been able to hold their general convention.
