KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the current government was formed to bring political stability to the country.
Addressing the first meeting of the winter session of the House of Representatives on Friday, Deuba said the government’s primary goals are ensuring good governance and focusing on development and construction. He also expressed confidence in the current government’s ability to meet its targets. However, a comprehensive evaluation of the government’s performance should not be conducted in just six months,” he added.
Deuba added that the government introduced legal reforms through ordinances to improve the economic situation and create a business-friendly environment in the country. I am confident that these ordinances, aimed at establishing good governance and resolving issues in the cooperative sector, would be approved by Parliament. ”
The former Prime Minister also urged the government to bring additional bills related to citizens’ concerns to Parliament, and fully implement constitutional provisions.
Talking about constitutional amendments, Deuba said pluralism, democratic systems and inclusivity should not be weakened. “Any constitutional amendments should be made with the consensus of all political parties,” he said, reiterating that democracy has no alternative.
