KATHMANDU: The government has decided to resume sending workers to Israel starting next week.
According to the Department of Foreign Employment, employment contracts with 26 out of 1,000 youths, who were selected to work as caregivers in Israel but who could not leave due to the Hamas-Israel war, have been signed.
Health examinations of 923 of these youths have already been completed.
Giriraj Gyawali, the director of the department’s Israel branch, said that 26 Nepali workers’ employment contracts have been signed in the last three days. “Contracts have been finalized for 26 individuals. The remaining workers will be sent within two months,” he added.
After the ceasefire in Israel, the Israeli side sent a letter requesting the department resume the process of sending workers. Accordingly, Gyawali said preparations have begun to send the Nepali workers to Israel within two months.
