KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a four-day gaining streak, closing the last trading of the week 11.1 points lower at 2,654.35 points on Thursday.
Unit prices of 150 scrips declined during the session, while 86 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover on Thursday with Rs 308.92 million worth of shares traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure & Development and United ID Mardi RB Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 213.87 million and Rs 195.54 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, the Development Bank and the Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices logged nominal gains. The sub-indices of the remaining eleven trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 2.43%.
Hydropower and Investment stocks accounted for more than 50% of the daily turnover of Rs 7.85 billion recorded on Thursday. Shares worth Rs 3.34 billion of Hydropower sector companies and Rs 1.26 billion of Investment sector companies were traded on the bourse during the session. A total of 15.1 million units of securities were traded on Thursday through 84,007 transactions.
