Nepse gains 12.58 points, closes above 2,600-point level

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted gains of 12.58 points on Sunday, closing the first trading day of the week at 2,601.21 points.

With this gain, the Nepse index closed above the psychological 2,600-point level for the first time since January 12.

Unit prices of 171 companies advanced during the session, while 68 declined and four remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure & Development logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 268.52 million worth of shares traded. Next were Super Madi Hydropower Ltd and Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 244.55 million and Rs 151.53 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, three posted losses while 10 ended the session in the green. Manufacturing & Processing was the biggest gainer of the week with gains of 2.57%, while Mutual Fund posted the biggest loss of 0.46%.

Daily turnover improved to Rs 6.25 billion as 12.98 million units of securities were traded on the bourse through 72,540 transactions on Sunday.
