Nepse up 28.91 points; Rs 44.3 billion worth of shares traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a three-day losing run, closing 28.91 points higher at 2,612.20 points on Monday.

The market had shed more than 50 points over the past three sessions.

Share prices of 194 companies advanced, while 41 declined and nine remained unchanged during the session. Janaki Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 188.46 million worth of shares traded. Joshi Hydropower Company and Molung Hydropower Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 117.63 million and Rs 115.90 million, respectively.

Except for the Mutual Fund sub-index, which was down by 4.21%, all trading groups posted gains on Monday. The highest gain came from the Hydropower sub-index, which was up by 2.65%. Next were the Manufacturing & Processing and Finance sub-indices, with gains of 2.46% and 1.67%, respectively.

Securities worth Rs 4.43 billion were traded on the bourse on Monday through 55,938 transactions.
