KATHMANDU: A corruption case has been filed against the former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Dhangadhimai Municipality of Siraha, Gopal Prasad Bagale, along with four others.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the chargesheet at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Thursday, accusing the five of irregularities in the procurement of emergency medical supplies.
Other accused include Accounts Officer Purushottam Kumar Prasad, former Health Division Chief Surait Chaudhary, former Store Division Chief Sampait Yadav and Madhav Prasad Gautam, Managing Director of Helping Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu.
CIAA’s investigation showed that 17 types of medicines were procured at prices higher than those tendered. Five types of medicines not listed in the tender were also purchased using funds allocated under the federal government’s conditional grant, according to CIAA.
The CIAA has sought to recover Rs 460,810 from each of the five accused.
