Five construction workers buried to death in Rolpa

KATHMANDU: Five people were buried to death at a bridge construction site in Rolpa district on Sunday morning.

According to Dhan Bahadur Pun, chairperson of Sunchhahrai Rural Municipality, five persons died when landslide debris fell in a foundation pit dug for the construction of a suspension bridge in Sunchhahari-3. “The foundation digging work for a new suspension bridge was underway when a landslide struck from above and buried them,” he told Himal Press.

According to Gurung, two of the seven people at the construction site managed to escape safely.

The deceased have been identified as Dujman Pariyar (45), Om Pariyar (31), Subithra Pariyar (40), Aiti Pariyar (27) Deviram Pariyar (66) of Sunchhahari-3.
