KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, has been brought to Kathmandu from Pokhara to record his statement for investigation into alleged misappropriation of deposits from the Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative, Kalimati.
Lamichhane is currently in the custody of District Police Office, Kaski. Kathmandu police have already recorded the statement of former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who is also implicated in the case and in the custody of Kaski police. Likewise, police have already recorded the statement of Kumar Ramtel, the treasurer of the cooperative. Ramtel is also in the custody of Kaski police.
Police are investigating the transfer of deposits from different cooperatives to Gorkha Media Network chaired by GB Rai. Rai is also the chairperson of Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative.
Lamichhane served as the managing director of Gorkha Media Network before he established Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in 2022.
