KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has unveiled the trophy of the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Oli unveiled the trophy on the premises of Dharahara tower in Sundhara in the presence of marquee players of all eight participating teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Olis called it a significant day for Nepali sports. He expressed confidence that the NPl would take Nepali sports to new highs. He also suggested CAN to organize women’s NPL as well.
The trophy features a stone from the Everest region. According to Cricket Association of Nepal, mountaineers Nima Sherpa and Mingma Sherpa brought the stone form Kalapatthar viewpoint in the Everest region.
NPL features eight city-based franchises – Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bolts, Kathmandu Gurkhas, Chitwan Rhinos, Pokhara Avengers, Lumbini Lions, Karnali Yaks and Sudurpashchim Royals.
The NPL kicks off on November 30 at the TU International Cricket Grounds with Biratnagar Kings taking on Janakpur Bolts.
