According to the foreign trade data released by the Department of Customs on Friday, exports grew at a faster pace, increasing by 4.16% to Rs. 52.67 billion from Rs. 50.57 billion in the previous year. The size of foreign trade saw a modest growth of 0.53% to Rs 566.06 billion compared to Rs 563.07 billion in the review period of the previous fiscal year.
The trade deficit also fell marginally by 0.26% to Rs 460.72 billion. The imports-to-exports ratio also improved slightly, declining from 10.14 to 9.75. Exports accounted for 9.30% of total trade, up from 8.98% in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The share of imports in total trade, however, decreased slightly to 90.70%, down from 91.02% in the same period last year.
