Nepse down 31.31 points; turnover improves to Rs 8.25 billion

KATHMANDU: The market logged its second double-digit loss in two days as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) shed 31.31 points and closed trading at 2,680.44 points on Thursday.

Although the market initially tried to recover from Wednesday’s loss, it started falling after the hour’s mark and eventually ended the session 1.15% lower on the last trading day of the week. Daily turnover slightly improved to Rs 8.25 billion compared to Wednesday.

Unit prices of 197 scrips declined during the session, while 43 advanced and four remained unchanged. Nepal Finance Ltd registered the highest turnover of the session with Rs 252.41 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 233.32 million and Rs 197.99 million.

All trading groups ended the session in red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 286%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Others sub-indices which fell by 1.73% and 1.67%, respectively.

A total of 18.47 million units of scrips changed hands through 84,858 transactions on Thursday.
