KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index tanked 51.11 points, closing trading at 2,702.65 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark index started losing value right after trading began on Tuesday morning. It continued to trend throughout the section and eventually ended the session 1.85% lower.
Share prices of 224 companies declined during the session, while 20 advanced and one remained unchanged. Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 466.89 million worth of shares traded. Next were Samriddhi Finance Company Ltd and Pokhara Finance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 290.86 million and Rs 249.27 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in red. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index with a loss of 3.17%. Next were the Hydropower and Finance sub-index with losses of 3.07% and 2.31%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 10.46 billion were traded on the bourse through 105,827 transactions on Tuesday.
