KATHMANDU: Candidates vying for the 44 vacant local body positions in the by-elections to be held on December 1 are filing their nominations on Sunday.
According to the Election Commission, candidates can file nominations from 10 am to 5 pm at the designated election offices. As per the election program published by the Election Commission, complaints against the candidates can be filed on Monday, and a decision on these complaints must be made by Tuesday evening after conducting a needful investigation. Likewise, candidate can withdraw their nominations until 1 pm on Wednesday.
Most of the political parties have already finalized their candidates for the vacant positions.
The by-elections are being held to fill two vacant positions of District Coordination Committee chairpersons, one mayor and one deputy mayor, and two rural municipality chairpersons and four vice chairpersons as well as 34 ward chairpersons.
