KATHMANDU: The International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, has issued a Red Notice for the arrest of two more individuals implicated in a cooperative fraud case.
According to SP Hobindra Bogati of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, the notice has been issued for the arrest of Jyoti Gurung and Jyoti Bahadur Bhandari. The two have been accused of misappropriating deposits from Miteri Saving and Credit Cooperative. Gurung and Bhandari allegedly misused Rs 60 million and Rs 34.4 million, respectively.
As both are currently outside Nepal, police are seeking INTERPOL’s assistance for their arrest.
Jyoti Gurung is the former wife of Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung. Dhanraj, who is also implicated in the cooperative fraud case, has claimed that he legally separated from Jyoti five years ago.
Dhanraj also said that he had repaid loans taken from the cooperative. It was later revealed that controversial businessperson Min Bahadur Gurung had settled the debts.
