Nepse closes last trading day before Tihar holidays in red

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 14.43 points, closing the last trading day before the Tihar holidays 14.43 points lower at 2,677.62 points on Wednesday.

Unit prices of 164 scrips declined during the session, while 75 advanced, and five remained unchanged. Despite the loss, unit prices of two scrips—Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Mid Solu Hydropower Ltd—hit the positive circuit of 10%. Share prices of four other companies appreciated by more than 9%.

CEDB Hydropower Development Company logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 341.79 million worth of shares traded. Next were Sanima GIC Insurance Company Ltd and Soaltee Hotel Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 260.55 million and Rs 209.82 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, three posted gains, while the remaining 10 ended the session in red. The biggest gain came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was up by 2.5%. The Investment sub-index, on the other hand, logged the highest loss of 1.41%.

Securities worth Rs 5.95 billion changed hands on the secondary market through 59,698 transactions on the day.
