LUMBINI: Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabilal Joshi, who was arrested on charges of cooperative deposit misappropriation, was interrogated at the District Government Attorney’s Office in Rupandehi on Tuesday.
The questioning, held in the presence of District Attorney Prem Raj Poudel, began at 11 am and continued until 6:30 pm. Joshi was interrogated over his alleged role in misappropriating funds from Supreme Cooperative through Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd.
According to Poudel, DSP Bijaya Raj Pandit, investigative officer Yamlal Banjade, and other police officials conducted the interrogation.
Joshi, who was arrested by Kaski District Police a month ago, was transferred to Rupandehi on Monday for an investigation into the cases filed against him. Police allege that Joshi took a Rs 25 million loan from Supreme Cooperative.
Meanwhile, victims of cooperative fraud staged protests outside the office, accusing political figures of protecting Supreme Cooperative’s Butwal branch manager, Sagar KC, and its chairperson, Gitendra Babu Rai (GB), who they claim have been assisted in escaping justice.
