LUMBINI: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has warned the government against issuing ordinances to facilitate the splitting of parties.
Speaking at his party’s Lumbini Province Extended Meeting in Kapilvastu on Monday, Nepal said he has heard about plans to introduce such ordinances. In a pointed reference to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, he urged the government to abandon, what he called, ‘Hitlerian methods’.
“Let’s discuss how to develop the country. We are ready for such discussions,” Nepal said. “But ordinances aimed at finishing other parties won’t be acceptable.” He added that those who try to eliminate others end up destroying themselves.
The former prime minister also clarified that neither he nor his party harbored any vengeful feelings toward UML or KP Sharma Oli. He dismissed rumors about his party merging with UML or the CPN (Maoist Center). “We won’t merge with anyone; we’ll stand on our own feet,” he added.
While acknowledging potential collaboration with ideologically aligned groups, including forming a front with revolutionary forces like the Maoist Center, Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party, and Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP), Nepal ruled out immediate unity with any party. He said that the Unified Socialist was formed to protect the constitution.
On the occasion, Nepal claimed that his party’s membership had grown to 150,000, compared to UML’s 105,000 four years ago. “We are not small. Our party is growing,” he added.
