KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped its four-day gaining streak, losing 47.44 points to close at 2,697.91 points on Sunday.
Although the market had recovered after initial hiccups and hit an intraday high of 2,748.77 points, it lost momentum after that and eventually ended the week’s first trading session 1.72% lower.
Unit prices of 226 scrips fell on the day, while 18 advanced. Goodwill Finance Company Ltd logged the session’s highest turnover with Rs 450.7 million worth of shares traded. Next were Kumari Bank Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 378.76 million and Rs 260.58 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, 12 went down while one, Mutual Fund, remained unchanged. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 4%. Following were Life Insurance and Development Bank sub-indices, which fell by 2.46% and 2.34%.
Although the benchmark Nepse index fell on the day, total turnover went above the Rs 8 billion mark for the first time since September 15. Securities worth Rs 8.18 billion were traded on the bourse on Sunday through 88,714 transactions.
