Nepali peacekeepers in Lebanon are safe: Nepal Army

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army has said that all Nepali peacekeepers deployed to Lebanon under the United Nations are safe.

According to Gaurav Kumar KC, the spokesperson for the Nepal Army, the army leadership is regularly in touch with the Nepali troops in the peacekeeping mission and that all personnel are safe.

Spokesperson KC said that the deployment of Nepali peacekeepers will continue to be based on decisions and directives from the United Nations and mission headquarters, taking into account the evolving situation in Lebanon.

“There have been sporadic incidents around the peacekeeping mission area,” KC said. “These incidents are affecting daily routines and task performance. The Nepali peacekeepers will comply with UN directives in response to these situations.”

Currently, 877 Nepali peacekeepers are serving in Lebanon as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
