Govt forms high-level economic reforms recommendation commission

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a High-Level Economic Sector Reform Recommendation Commission under former finance secretary Rameshore Khanal.

The cabinet meeting held on Monday formed the five-member commission on a proposal of the Ministry of Finance.

National Planning Commission (NPC) Member Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha, Tribhuvan University Central Department of Economics Chief Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Gyawali, Economic Expert Dr. Bishwash Gauchan, and Senior Researcher at Policy Research Institute Dr. Kalpana Khanal are members of the commission.

The commission will consult with various sectors of the economy, including the private sector, as needed, before making recommendations for economic reforms.

Formation of the high-level commission was among the list of tasks to be completed within 100 days of the appointment of Bishnu Prasad Paudel as finance minister.
