KATHMANDU: Chitralekha Yadav has been endorsed as Nepal’s ambassador to Australia.
A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Wednesday unanimously endorsed her nomination for the position.
Yadav was recommended for the position by the cabinet on September 9.
The government had initially picked Kanta Rijal for the position. However, the government did not send her name for the hearing following allegations that she left one of her aides in Israel when she returned to the country after completing her term as Nepal’s ambassador.
Yadav, who is also a former Deputy Speaker, will now be appointed to the position by President Ram Chandra Paudel.
